When Anton launched, the site ranked for 2 distinct queries on Google. Eleven months later it ranks for 1,835, and the curve is still steepening. Every month since launch has been a growth month across every metric. The site is now Anton’s primary acquisition channel, cited not just by Google search but by AI answer engines as a clinical reference.
Anton Lambers is an orthopaedic surgeon based in northeast Victoria, specialising in knee, hip, foot, hand, and shoulder surgery across Albury-Wodonga, the Alpine Shire, and Wangaratta.
Anton already had genuine clinical depth: published research, advanced qualifications, and years of complex surgical experience. The challenge wasn’t the credentials. The challenge was making them visible to Google.
Healthcare is the highest-scrutiny category in Google’s quality systems. As a Your Money or Your Life topic, surgical content faces the most demanding evidence-of-expertise requirements anywhere on the web. Google’s quality systems are designed to distinguish between claimed expertise and structural evidence of it, and most surgeon websites treat expertise as a marketing claim rather than something to be made crawlable.
The strategic question wasn’t “how do we rank?” It was “how do we make Anton’s actual expertise crawlable, structured, and verifiable in a way that Google can read?”
We built four content systems, designed around the unique requirements of medical content.
The site was built around four interlocking systems: 27 condition pages answering “what’s wrong with me?”, 25 treatment pages answering “what will the surgery involve?”, 23 rehabilitation protocols answering “what’s the recovery?”, and 23 published research papers, treating Anton’s research career as first-class content with its own crawlable URLs.
For every major condition Anton treats, there is a dedicated condition page, a dedicated treatment page, and a dedicated rehabilitation protocol page. Google reads this triangulation as topical authority, and the resulting 100-plus pages of clinical clustering signal a serious clinical resource, not a marketing site.
Most surgeon websites speak only to patients. Anton’s was built to serve patients and other clinicians simultaneously. A dedicated referrers page signals to Google that the site serves other doctors, and the clinical content was written at a depth physiotherapists, GPs, and specialist trainees can actually use. That dual-audience signal is itself an authority marker.
Dedicated location pages for Albury-Wodonga, the Alpine Shire, and Wangaratta were built to capture the specific regional queries patients in northeast Victoria use when searching for a specialist.
Anton publishes new research and updates protocols himself. The platform was built to support that without us in the loop for every update.
The question wasn't how do we rank. It was how do we make a surgeon's real expertise crawlable, structured, and verifiable in a way Google can read.
The site launched in June 2025. Within 34 days, Anton held a Google number-one ranking. Within 11 months, the campaign had grown the ranked footprint from 2 distinct queries to 1,835, and every metric has grown every month since launch. No plateau, still accelerating.
Organic search is now 75% of total website traffic, up from 32% in the launch month. Monthly impressions grew from 3 pre-launch to 51,366. Monthly clicks from 0 to 1,222. Across 11 months, 328 tracked conversions, with monthly volume still climbing.
The site ranks for 1,835 distinct queries, most of them long-tail clinical recovery questions where Anton’s protocols are the precise match for search intent. Click-through rates of 25 to 60% at top-of-page-one positions only happen when content matches intent precisely. These patterns strongly suggest clinicians searching by exact protocol name and finding the document they were looking for, not patients comparing options.
Three Google number-one rankings held across northeast Victoria’s most commercially valuable surgeon searches, including orthopaedic surgeon Bright, achieved within 34 days of launch. Brand recognition has grown from non-existence to becoming the majority of the site’s query mix, with brand share now 52% of the total.
Anton’s rehabilitation protocols are now cited by ChatGPT and Perplexity when users ask about post-surgical recovery. AI-referred traffic peaked at 7.4% of all organic visits in August 2025, an extraordinary share for a medical site, well above what we see across our project portfolio.
The traffic is concentrated almost entirely on the rehabilitation protocol pages. The answer engines are treating Anton’s clinical content as canonical reference material. For a surgeon’s website to be cited by AI answer engines within months of launch is unusual. It validates the decision to publish research and protocols as crawlable, structured content rather than burying clinical expertise inside an About page.
Practising in a field where expertise has to be defensible? We build clinical authority sites that Google, and the AI engines now sitting on top of it, read as the real thing.
our work
We lead with the numbers because they do the work. A surgeon found before the hospital, a lighting platform rebuilt without losing a ranking, an event company now cited by the AI engines. Every project below is a client made easier to find for the thing they are already the best at.
